Johannes Trost studied law in Bonn and completed his legal clerkship at the Higher Shipping Court of Cologne and the Federal Ministry of Transport at Bonn.

Doctorate at the Institute for Inland Navigation Law in Mannheim with a comparative law thesis on the shipping law in the Danube riparian states.

Since 1995 lawyer in Bonn, Duisburg and since 2000 in Hamburg.

Partner in the law firm Lebuhn & Puchta, Hamburg, until 2023.

2024 Founding partner of the shipping law firm Wheelhouse.

Wheelhouse - shipping law firm stands for many years of professional expertise and a personal dedication. Founded by the experienced maritime and shipping lawyers Dr. Johannes Trost and Dr. Dr. Jan R. Lüsing, we are pursuing our passion for the legal profession together at Wheelhouse since 2024. The small firm allows us to concentrate fully on each individual mandate in direct contact with our clients from the shipping and insurance sectors.

We pursue a comprehensive approach: excellent legal skills paired with profound procedural experience is the basis. Added to this is our specialty in fact-finding: our cases are often won through better analysis of the factual background, a good deal of investigative work and the ability to understand complex technical or nautical matters and to demonstrate them in court.
